At last! The latest edition of the 'Blue Book' is now available and should be delivered to every home in East Leake during the next week or two.

This is East Leake Traders Directory  of  local businesses and services with lots of useful contact details and phone numbers so when you get your copy, keep it handy because it won't be published again for at least another year.

Now that the new Bloor Homes development in Gotham Road is underway and the sales office ready for business, it is interesting to hear the views of local people about the continuing development of East Leake. For those who have lived here for a few years and those who grew up in the village, it seems like just another erosion of local green spaces by greedy developers.  After all there have been so many and the village has at least doubled in size over the past few years., However, there is another way to view such developments...

When the local Halifax counter closes in October, it could have a profound effect on East Leake and surrounding areas.  First of all it will mean that some people will have to travel outside the village to do their personal banking.  The chances are that they will also do some of their shopping outside the village in order to justify the cost of travelling and this will impact upon local shops and services in the long term.
